Namco Bandai Is Making A New Bravoman Game

Namco Bandai Is Making A New Bravoman GameAfter a one off arcade game and a TurboGrafx-16 port, Namco Bandai's stretchy hero Bravoman went into their vault for almost two decades. ShiftyLook, Namco Bandai's comic division, revived Bravoman with a quirky web comic and an animated series.

'

Since Bravoman is ShiftyLook's second most popular series,Bravoman is getting a video game too. I got to try Bravoman: Binja Bash at E3 and the new Bravoman uses his stretchy limbs to punch Binjas while running and jumping on platforms. Players tap the screen to make Bravoman punch or kick. The trick to defeating Binjas is to hit them in certain spots like their head or body in a specific pattern like head –> body –> head.

'

Bravoman: Binja Bash also has Bravo Woman, Waya Hime, Alpha Hime, and Anti- Bravo as unlockable characters. Benjamin and a character from another obscure video game Namco game as a boss. The Bravoman game is slated for release this summer for iOS devices.

Create Combo Vehicles In Dead Rising 3 Like The Fork Work And Roller Hawg

There's a reason why Capcom Vancouver made the main character in Dead Rising 3 a mechanic. Nick can create combo weapons like Chuck Greene, but doesn't need a work bench to do so. Nick can also make combo vehicles.

'

The Roller Hawg shown below is a motorcycle with a steamroller attachment and flamethrowers. Nick isn't the only one that can ride combo vehicles. Siliconera hears one of the psychopaths we revealed, the motorcycle gang leader, uses the Roller Hawg.

That Pile Of Bones Was Once A Dragon's Crown Adventurer

Dragon's Crown has a Demon's Souls kind of system where you can find fallen players in your game. Adventurers appear as a pile of bones that you can pick up and bring back to Hydeland and revive them. After being revived you can select characters at the Dragon's Haven Inn to join you as a NPC.

Going Beyond Localizing Western Games For Japan, A Studio Focuses On Culturalization

The business of bringing Western games to Japan is growing with companies like Spike Chunsoft, Konami, Cyberfront, and even Square Enix handling Activision's games in Japan. Most of the work done for console titles like Dragon Age, Dead Island or Call of Duty is purely localization work. It's similar to bringing over a Final Fantasy game or Rune Factory title here where a Western division translates, localizes, and handles voice acting.

'

Adways.it and Mutations Studio has a different approach focused on culturalization. They picked up Burn the Rope from Canadian developer Big Blue Bubble and published in Japan with new artwork.

'

"The original game has to have something that already appeals to the local Japanese market. We want to maintain that, but we might have to make some changes to make it appeal to the Japanese market," said Keiji Fujita, Vice President of Adways Interactive. "For non-Japanese people, they aren't familiar with Japanese culture or the needs or preferences of the market. We aren't just localizing games. We're culturalizing games for the Japanese market."

'

"Character graphics and the art style is a big point. Instead of realistic characters, Japanese people prefer small and cute characters," Hiromi Watanabe, Localization Coordinator." Adways handles the new art design and culturalization work in house. Fujita explained to Siliconera that they didn't change the game design of Burn the Rope at all, but added new graphics to make it appeal better to the local market. For other titles, Adways and Mutations Studio are willing to tweak games so they can monetize better in Japan and handle community management.

'

The Japanese version of Burn the Rope is available now and Adways plans to repeat this strategy by licensing more Western developed mobile games for the Japanese market.
